Music retrospective.

The Bee Gees were a pop band that were most popularly recognized to consist of three brothers; Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb that became popular during the late 60’s to the early 70’s and in the late 70’s. Their contribution to the classic film “Saturday Night Fever” gave its soundtrack album the title of the “Top-Selling Album” in history until Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” was released. They pioneered their Disco-song oriented style of music and became a success with their music. They also wrote all their own hits and helping produce and writing hits for other artists. Their impact on the music world is undeniable and they have been together for around for a very long time. Unfortunately, as of now two of the brothers have passed leaving Barry as the only member left. The way that the band is most well known is for their form of music, which is disco. They have the sort of techno-feel that most disco has, but it also is very song centric. The songs have a lot of lyrics involved.

Public Performance Piece

For my final project for this class I went around on campus asking people stuff in Portuguese. I'm half Brazilian so this wasn't quite that difficult. I also spent my first year of living in Brazil not knowing much what other people were saying so it's curious to see how it looks the other way around. I was mainly watching out people's for reactions and I wasn't disappointed. Camera work was done by Jack Dean and I appreciate his help. link to video: https://youtu.be/vQe-OLZc8rI

Collage piece: "Satellite"

Image
For this project I made a satellite sort of object. I did this to reflect our current technology utilized to connect us by using hands and eyes. We can talk, connect, located, navigate using our satellites and the hands and eyes help us do that too. It's probably watching you right now.

Grid Project

Image
For this project I didn't want to do too much with physical objects as I already had means to do a grid digitally. I used a Digital Art program to select an image, reduce it, blow it up again and then put a separate layer on top of the pixels. After that I took the paint tool and colored over the pixels with little blots. I put the light green under it so it wouldn't clash with the white layer underneath.

Opera Essay

The Magic Flute      The Magic flute was an opera written by the ever-famous composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, written back near the end of the eighteenth century, and was one of the last of his works that he published before his premature death. Reluctantly, I went to see it with my Grandmother, who is a HUGE opera fan, a few years back. But before actually seeing it,   I was forced into watching a stylized version of it on YouTube. It tells the story of the mystical romance between the Prince Tamino on his quest to win the hand of the princess Pamina along with the help of three mysterious Fairy god-mothers, a weird deformed bird-catcher named Papageno, and a magical flute which holds great power. However, the version that I watched on Youtube was a little different than the original version done by Mozart, where as the original was a medieval sort of tale, this version was sort of a mixture of Star Wars and Star Trek and other Sci-fi epics.      The costume designs w

Stopmotion Assignment (Title:Paper, Scissors, Rock, Paper)

What I wanted to do with this little stopmotion is to trick my audience a bit with the surprise ending. But I also wanted to do it using a concept that everyone was familiar with. I used my Phone to take the pictures and my roommate's desk (He's not here currently so I'm sure he won't mind. I cleaned it up after I was done, don't worry.) A very fun little project to work on.

A Smartphone Retrospective

Smartphones are a very integral part of modern society. Almost everybody has one. We use them for communication, online browsing, shopping on amazon, consuming media, navigation and multiple other utilities. They are a such a dominant part of our daily lives that it’s hard to believe that they are barely a past decade old. There have been many versions of a cellular telephone made with in the last couple of decades, I personally remember my parents both owning a Blackberry phone. However, none of those were quite as ground-breaking and revolutionary as Apple’s newest product; The iPhone. 12 years ago, in the year 2007 at Macworld, Steve jobs introduced the new iPhone to the public and It was a critical success. Its technology was an impressive feat for its time, with its touch screen technology, browsing capability and its replacement for MP3 players, not to mention it was ALSO a phone. This of course was only the begging of a growing market for this brand of hardware. Android c
