A Smartphone Retrospective

Smartphones are a very integral part of modern society. Almost everybody has one. We use them for communication, online browsing, shopping on amazon, consuming media, navigation and multiple other utilities. They are a such a dominant part of our daily lives that it’s hard to believe that they are barely a past decade old. There have been many versions of a cellular telephone made with in the last couple of decades, I personally remember my parents both owning a Blackberry phone. However, none of those were quite as ground-breaking and revolutionary as Apple’s newest product; The iPhone.
12 years ago, in the year 2007 at Macworld, Steve jobs introduced the new iPhone to the public and It was a critical success. Its technology was an impressive feat for its time, with its touch screen technology, browsing capability and its replacement for MP3 players, not to mention it was ALSO a phone. This of course was only the begging of a growing market for this brand of hardware. Android came out with their own version of a smartphone, and Samsung, and then google. It became such a big trend that now people are starting to wonder if having all this easily accessible technology is a detriment to our younger generations. The debate on whether the current youth utilizes too much of what smartphones offer is one to be had, however it is undeniable that smartphones are certainly a step up from the previous form of information sharing was slower and a lot more tedious than it is today.
